Do you have good technical knowledge of fiber networks, monitoring and incident management? Are you a true hands-on type who knows how to roll up your sleeves and wants to take on different tasks? Are you willing to work in a 24/7 environment? Then you are the one we are looking for!

Your priority is dark fiber and PoP monitoring and incident management. As this is a start up, you will also pick up additional tasks. This could include the follow-up of other cases, but also escalations or drafting improvement proposals for management and incident processes.

A quick overview of your potential new job

As an NMC operator you will be the main point of contact for the customer on a 24/7 basis for both new and existing incidents on managed dark fiber.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Based on your technical skills, you resolve the majority of incidents independently. If it is beyond your domain, you have it resolved. You monitor and record the progress of an incident within the agreed lead times (SLA) and are the contact point for the customer during the incident.
  • You process and administer customer questions and incidents according to the established processes and guidelines in the appropriate systems and prepare incident reports for the customer.
  • You are able to identify frequently occurring incidents or causes and to perform a trend analysis. You are able to evaluate proposed improvements as a solution direction to achieve the desired result.
  • You inform customers proactively, timely and clearly with regard to planned activities.
  • You monitor the relevant developments within the work field.

Finally, as an NMC operator you will be involved (possibly in the future) in our Planned Work process, which means that you will have a supervisory role in the execution of various activities within the infrastructure.

This is you

You work in a structured manner, are punctual and are committed to delivering on your commitments. You have the intrinsic motivation to personally seek to understand how an incident could have arisen and what has been or can be done to resolve it, and can in turn communicate this clearly to the customer.

Also:

  • you have 2-3 years of experience in a technical Customer Support environment.
  • you have demonstrated good basic technical knowledge. Knowledge of and experience with fiber infrastructure (managed dark fiber) is a must.
  • you are accustomed to working with a ticketing system (case management) and a call platform with incoming calls.
  • you will begin with day shifts and be willing to participate in on-call shifts. In 2023 the team will expand and we will begin working in shifts. You understand what this entails and can cope well with alternating shifts, both at work and at home.
  • you are able to regularly learn new techniques, procedures and platforms. So you are not afraid of change, you enjoy contributing ideas and suggestions.
  • you are positive and stress resistant.
  • you are a strong communicator. You write and speak fluent Dutch, English and French.

If you have the following knowledge and experience, you are at a great advantage:

  • DWDM (Infinera/Huawei), Ethernet, VPLS/MPLS.
  • Juniper and Cisco routers and switches
  • TCP/IP, internet connections, IP transit
  • Network protocols: BGP, DHCP, OSPF, ARP, DNS
  • Network management tooling
  • Juniper JCNIA or Cisco CCNA certificate (or comparable)
